An exterior fire traveled up the home's siding and through the soffit, ultimately reaching the attic and causing significant damage to the roof structure. Following an engineering assessment, it was determined that approximately half of the roof trusses required replacement.
The project presented a unique challenge: selectively demolishing the damaged areas and reconstructing half of the roof structure during the middle of winter, while protecting portions of the home that still contained finished materials. Careful planning, weather preparedness, and precise coordination were essential to safely progress the work while minimizing additional exposure to the elements.
The restoration began with selective demolition and the removal of the damaged structural components. Half of the roof structure was completely rebuilt, including replacement of affected mechanical, electrical, and plumbing materials and the building's entire ceiling assembly.
Salvageable framing was treated using our standard smoke cleaning and encapsulation process to remove residual smoke odor and protect the remaining structure. On the main and lower-level exteriors, all fire- and water-affected materials were replaced, including: siding, sheathing, house wrap, windows, soffit, fascia.
Inside the home, a comprehensive smoke cleaning was performed throughout the entire property. Moisture testing was also conducted to identify areas of concealed water damage that were not necessarily directly affected by the fire. This testing revealed moisture behind walls, requiring the replacement of affected drywall and insulation.
The final phase of the restoration included replacing carpet throughout affected areas and repainting the entire home, restoring the property to a clean, cohesive, and fully finished condition.
Through careful structural reconstruction, detailed smoke and moisture remediation, and comprehensive interior and exterior restoration, the home was returned to a safe, functional, and fully restored condition. The project required close attention to structural integrity, weather protection, and the preservation of salvageable materials - resulting in a complete restoration from the roof structure to the interior finishes.
